Almost Botak
Sophie had her first hair cut at one of the salon in AMK central. I had to carry her while the hairdresser shaved off her thick, curly hair. I kinda wished we did not have to do it, but the weather is simply too hot for her. According to Dr. Koh, she is a "sweaty" and "allergic" baby, so we have to take measures to prevent any heat rash. Poor baby, now she looks like a boy...

IMM
This morning, I was dressing Sophie after her bath when she suddenly grabbed the powder container and half its content rained on her. As a result, she looked like a baker who just had the shock of her life... I screamed and came papa who laughed his head off and quickly took pictures. Sophie looked too stunned to react as I went about cleaning her...grumbling. She is definitely in her grabbing stage...
IMM looks great... with fun water fixtures that draw in the kids. Poor Sophie just recovered from her cough so we wrapped her up and stayed a distance away. I think she looked rather jealous that the other kids got to play with water...
"My little koala..."
Eating is always a challenge unless Sophie is willing to stay in her stroller quietly. Today, I have to carry her while papa ate... my turn would come later... hope we can use the highchair soon...

SCB Family Day
Most of papa's colleagues had only seen Sophie during her First Month's party, so we took this opportunity to let them see her again. At first we were concerned that she might have stranger anxiety, but she obviously had no problem with people at all. Everyone took turns carrying her and she only cried when she wanted to sleep.

No Body Like Mine (Part 3)
Alright... so now we are fully acquainted with Sophie's "sensitive" and problematic respiratory system. We were told to take precautionary measures like avoiding cold, dry air and using nasal spray on her everyday. Easier said than done, Sophie hates the heat and she sweats a lot. Her sleep was badly compromised as a result. All the heat, sweat and disrupted sleep made her grouchy and she rubbed her eyes a lot.
Consequently, Sophie woke up one day with an unusually huge amount of eye discharge. Yup! She had eye infection. Unfortunately it was the weekend so we could not see Dr Koh. We went to the pharmacy and bought her saline solution to irrigate her eyes. It did not get worse, but she did not recover either. Suddenly, I remembered that an eye infection can spread to the respiratory tract... so on Monday, we went to see Dr Vella. After some antibiotic eye drops, Sophie was clear-eyed again...

High Highchair
We bought Sophie a highchair from Mothercare. It would be great if she could sit there and eat her porridge or watch me do household chores in the kitchen.... Er.. she does not look too comfortable in there... maybe too good to be true?

No Body Like Mine (Part 2)
A peaceful week or so passed by after Sophie's traumatic diarrhea episode... Meanwhile, we quit Pat's Schoolhouse, partly due to HMF outbreak and her susceptiblility to infection.I wanted to start weaning her since she was approaching 5 months old. Suddenly, we heard her cough for the first time. Could we have heard wrongly? Maybe she choked on her own saliva? We could not be further from the truth. She had developed a real cough. As it turned out, it was again, a viral infection. Dr Koh gave her some syrup for her phlegm and whizzing. Nothing unusual...except she did not recover.
Her cough soon escalated to nasal congestion, breathlessness and eventually whizzing. We had to rent the nebulizer home and administer ventolin, atrovent and steroid every four to six hourly. My poor Sophie could not drink her milk, sleep or do much. Dr Koh warned us that it might be her first asthmatic attack and we must monitor her closely for lung infection. Her condition only improved after almost 3 weeks. We ended up buying the machine (nebulizer).
Phew! What a relief? Sophie bounced back to health, happily gulping down her milk and putting on weight for the next few days. Then our heart sank again when she started to cough. Her cough was even worse than before. We repeated the procedure of nebulizing her but to no avail. We tried physiotherapy and manually sucking her mucus out, but she did not respond well enough. We almost sent her to have her phlegm pumped out at Mt Alvenia. Finally, we begged Dr Vella for antibiotics.
A few days later, Sophie was slowly recovering... in a wink of an eye, almost month had passed and she had not started her solids.
