I thought it was an easy enough craft but it did not out as well as I had imagined. It was meant to be a suncatcher using recycled plastic bags for the translucent effect. I cut out two heart-shaped frames and stuck them onto plastic sheets (plastic bags).
Then I let Sophie have her way with the glitter glue (big mistake). She started squeezing with all her might and flooded the plastic sheet with watery glitter glue (a bit expired maybe).
I did not think much of it and let her continue with pasting little confetti pieces onto the glue. I should have guessed but I was not in my right frame of mind.
I was a little distracted because Alfee was screaming in the background. I had to leave him (so long as he was not hungry) with my helper or we would never be able to do anything.
Next, we glued the two frames together and applied glitter glue around the frame to create a “glam” effect. We even put it against the window to see its beautiful effect. We were quite happy until the glitter glue started oozing out of the frame, right at the end tip of the heart.
Apparently, the glitter glue would not really dry inside the plastic sheet so it would flow out. And the glue we had used to seal the frame is not entirely waterproof so the glitter glue could “bleed” through. So, I spent the rest of the day trying to salvage the suncatcher. I managed to finally contain the leakage but the design has been thus, compromised.
