Our First Staycation @ Festive Hotel, RWS (Day 1)

We had never done any staycation before so I did not know what to expect and how the kids will respond. To be honest, the uncertainty usually worries me when they are involved. I had absolutely no idea what to do there and I relied heavily on my friends for the activities. And of course, I was also kept too busy with my renovations work to pack early. We only packed this morning after breakfast.

As check-in time is late (2pm), we decided to let Alfee nap and eat lunch at home. While he was eating, Papa started off with Sophie so that she could take a nap as well. By the time Papa came for us, she was sleeping soundly.

When we arrived at the reception of Festival Hotel, we were disappointed that we could only check in at 3pm. So we made our way to get some lunch while waiting. We ended up at Ding Tai Fung. Usually I would avoid that place but it wasn't crowded today. Boy, was Alfee a handful! He was screaming n biting the table even though we were trying to entertain him!

Then I made a grave mistake! I let Sophie buy some candies in Candilicious. Alfee went amok in there and grabbed a cup on a saucer. They fell onto the floor and the saucer was chipped. Papa had to buy the item ($49) and we now own a huge cup. As for Sophie, she bugged me the entire time for the marshmallows we bought! I should have just let them stay outside!

We quickly headed back to Festive Hotel in case Alfee decided to get into more trouble! The room was alright, with two single beds and a nice balcony. Papa went straight to the sports channel and the kids explored every nook and corner. Alfee was so thrilled to see the strings of cable cars from the balcony. While they got comfortable, I checked with the rest where we could go.

By then, I had a headache and I was tired. So I wasn't too keen on water activity. But we went anyway... didnt want Sophie disappointed. However, it was really stressful for me because Sophie was all ready to hit the waters with nothing but a thermal suit. Even though there are many adults in the waters, I was only thigh-deep and some distance from her. The water is 1.2m with soft sand bed, so she slipped and had her head submerged a few times. And she deliberately ignored me when I called out to her to go to the shallower end of the pool. I should have changed into my swim suit! Papa also had a hard time managing Alfee who had a few challenging moments of his own.

Around 5 pm, we hurried back and cleaned up before we went hunting for the Sentosa Seafood Republic for our first Groupon dinner! The place was pleasant though we took a while to find it. The service was good also. After dinner, we took a stroll around before heading back to rest. I'm a little paranoid about my kids playing too much and resting too little. However, I managed to gather my last ounce of energy and met the rest of the mummies for a chit chat at the lobby of Level 8.

We seldom have any chance to gather and talk uninhibited so this was a great experience for all of us. Thanks to all the daddies for watching the kids while we did that!
