I loved waking up at the farm, I realised. It's not the animals or the 'naturally scented' air, but the idea that I could prepare a simple breakfast while CK played with the kids outside.
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and it was great to have no worries about time. Everyone ate a variety of foods until we were happy to set off. Somehow we ate more fruit here than when we were in Singapore. The fresh food intake, the constant running around, the good air and less dense population does a lot of good to my kids' health.
As usual, we took it easy and went off without much of a plan. Unlike most people, we do better without itinerary. We were more relaxed and happy without a schedule to follow. In fact, that is the whole purpose of a holiday, right? I understand why people want to beef up their itinerary so that they can make best use of their time and money on a holiday trip. But we aren't such people and frankly, we can't.
CK always love the park, so we decided to just spend most of our day at Kings Park & Botanic Garden. We had no plans but we found a nice place within the park to let the kids play. It's an area called The Synergy Parkland which is an environmental playground.
Our expectations weren't high but we really liked this place. The whole place was designed for kids to work their muscles and motor skills. They ran, they climbed and they explored their environment. There wasn't any big crowd but there were enough kids around to make play a social event as well.
And those scenes from storybooks or movies, we could easily have a picnic there. I prepared mat and food of course, in anticipation for such an opportunity. The weather was nice, the ground was comfortable and the kids were running around safely. I love Perth.
In fact, I could even catch a snooze when CK took the kids for a walk. It was a much appreciated break from the kids. This isn't possible back home in Singapore.
Usually, I wouldn't let the kids feast on ice-cream. But they seem all good and healthy here, so I let go a little and bought them ice-cream. Sophie loved this new found freedom...
Dinner at Ellenbrook again. The kids were never bored with the crackers and we wanted something closer to home. Alfee is a rice person so he needs his chinese food.
