Thanks to Auntie Jessy and Auntie KK, we got to know about this event organised by McDonalds. Actually we didn't actually know what the kids would be doing, we assumed there would be food and some lantern making.
Unfortunately, the event was very poorly organised. The 'auntie' staff was very good with hosting parties but she really could work on her logistic skills. It took them a long time just to get the food orders and get the programme started.
The lanterns they made were very basic paper lanterns with decorations done using coloured pencils and stickers. They also didn't prepare enough materials for all the 30 kids. Fortunately they gave ourt readymade LED lighted lanterns for the walk about.
The walk was also quite awkward, I thought. I was really uncomfortable with our kids crossing the bust roads and I almost just called it a day. But we were told to go back to McDonalds after the walk for goody bags. And the kids were so excited, especially Sophie who was determined to carry her lantern and walk about.
Both kids were super tired by the time we went home. I wouldn't say the event was worth the effort but the kids enjoyed themselves. I suppose I have learnt to let the kids do what they like even if it's not what I typically enjoy. Sometimes, I feel sorry that they have never done much at night due to my anal restrictive nature.
