Taiwan - Day 10

I like this particular bed & breakfast the most despite everything. The boss was nice to get me porridge for breakfast even though it wasn't on his menu. The room was private and spacious with two nice big bed. The bathroom was quite comfortable as well even though I spent most of the time just bent over the toilet bowl.

This morning, we had to set off for Taipei on a speed train. My reluctance was noticeable and understandable, considering how weak I felt. I had not been eating and even though my vomiting stopped, I was still having diarrhoea. I refrained from any intake so that I wouldn't embarrass myself in public.  I was just thankful my kids were untouched so far.

We stopped by a place where they make and sell glass beads, they also hold workshops for tourists like us. The drivers were eager to please the old folks so they signed us up to make one bead (with special  significance) for each of our parents.

I was still feeling weak and my hands shaky so I was quite worried I would burn my fingers. And when Sophie was making hers, I was like an anxious mother hen, hovering around her from behind.

It was interesting to see how my brother or sister-in-law try out these crafts (like ceramics). They were genuinely inexperienced in such craft work and they did it with very spontaneously. Even CK was having much fun trying out the ceramics the other day.

It has been a long time since I have that sort of feeling... I have done so much of such crafts that I don't feel the initial excitement or novelty effect anymore. Even though I hadn't done make beads before, I picked up the skills very quickly. I felt the need to perform... like I'm expected to. Am I that good? No, I'm just very hard on myself.

We left the place after lunch and went to the train station. The train was superb, almost like an airplane. I was feeling really lousy and tired, the thought of Taipei spurred me on though.

They gave out free biscuits and drinks in the train, maybe because we were in business class. Alfee, for some reason, loved the biscuits and kept asking more more. At one point, he was so active and noisy that we were told to take him for a walk by the staff. They were worried that we might disturb the other passengers. I was tempted to throw tantrum at the staff since I was feeling so lousy and she just made my mood worse. But, I could only gather enough energy to heave a huge sigh and close my eyes... just a bit.

It took us less than 2 hours to reach Taipei. The drivers were still on the road, sending our luggage to us. They were estimated to arrive at night. Meanwhile, we were happy to be in the city finally. I was even feeling much better. My strength was back and I could feel hunger again.

We checked in our hotel and rested a bit before heading out for dinner. The whole area was bustling with people and activities. It reminded me of Korea. We were finally energised again... Determined to enjoy the last few days here, we set off to find something nice to eat.

We ended up in a Japanese restaurant near out hotel. It wasn't crowded and the service was ok. They gave toys to the kids for the kids' meals they had ordered. That kept them busy for as long as it took for them to prepare the food.

When the food arrived, Alfee told us he needed to poo. Papa had little choice but to take him back to the hotel room. However, they didn't come back even after everyone had finished their meal. I was starting to worry. Then they came back. Papa was just starting to explain why they took so long when Alfee bent over and vomited all over the dining table and me. Shucks! Apparently, he felt the tummy ache but he didn't poo yet, he puked a little instead. Papa didn't link it to my stomach flu... So, now, he was officially down with Noro Virus too!
