The Day The Monster Was Unleashed

We took Sophie out for breakfast at our favourite place - Thomson Plaza. We do our grocery shopping there and I want us to spend time as a family eating at public places like this. I hope that Sophie will slowly get used to crowds and learn proper social behaviour at public places. Well, looks like we have a long way to go...

In the afternoon, we headed for Marina Square in attempt to do some shopping for Alfee. Sophie had other ideas. She went totally crazy at the playground area outside Mothercare and Kiddy Palace. We thought we could appease her with a simple, innocent Giraffe ride. But we were so wrong. She really preferred the electronic rides with loud music.

Sophie sat on almost ALL the machines but we stubbornly refused to put in any coins. And since she had very little idea how the machines work, she was content with just climbing on and sitting in them.

The "Barney" ride was the hardest for Sophie to say "byebye". We found it weird because we never really let her watch Barney on TV.

It was heartache for us to see how hard it was for her to leave "Barney". She was clinging on, hugging and saying to the fellow, "I love you".

We were quite affected by the episode. We never thought she would behave so desperately. In the end, we had to carry her and "force" her to leave. I wonder if I should let her ride more so that she would not feel so desperate for a ride. I am always against electronic rides because of safety issue etc. Now I must rethink my stand.

We only remembered Mothers' Day when we saw the crowd at Swensons. Although we did not intend to celebrate at all, we had to get the balloon for Sophie... So, here's to a wonderful Mothers' Day!
