Auntie Kar Keng and I arranged to meet at Thomson Medical Centre today to visit Auntie Stephanie and Baby Jayden. Unfortunately, the hospital was very strict about visiting hours (12 to 2pm) due to recent "swine flu" and we were 30 minutes late. So, we could not see them at all. We surrendered our gift to the staff at Patient Service Counter and headed for coffee at United Square.
I guess we must have been really deprived of personal leisure time, away from home and our children. And this unexpected turn of events gave us the opportunity to enjoy some leisure time with each other. We had a fairly therapeutic chit chat session at McDonalds, sharing stories of our joy and woes in child rearing. Then we were off to do shopping... for our children again! I bought a balloon with Elmo's face on it (Sophie's first love), some bean bags to teach colours and numbers, and sponges for art. Auntie Kar Keng also bought things for Joshua (let her fill you in herself) and when I left her at 4.45pm, she was still at Toys' R Us looking at art easel board
Although we were not with our family, we always ended up shopping for their things and buying them gifts. I guess the bond between Sophie and me is far stronger than any desire for personal time and space. Still, the 2-hr "timeout" was much needed and appreciated. Papa even hoped that I could incorporate that into Sophie's routine.
Yes. now personal time is so much at the last of our list. Sometimes couple time also turn out to be buying things for the kids. Never mind, when Sophie goes to sch then u can have some free time. For me is when i go to wrk.
