So 'tis Saturday and the day for Sophie's MIM class. Knowing how cranky she would be in class if she was tired, we tried to induce an earlier nap before we set off. To do that, we had to all wake up an hour earlier. Indeed, she was in a good mood as we arrived for class, but the effects lasted for the first half of the lesson. She became quite disruptive again as she became tired and sleepy.
At least we completed a few activities rather successfully... We managed to sing and march around without any gitches. Of course, I had to use the mirror to hold Sophie's attention as we did the fingerplay. Fortunately, the balls were kept away so she was not enticed to kick anything.
However, I was disappointed that the releif teacher was too young, inexperienced and ill-prepared. She kept calling our children "kids" for starters, she also did not bring enough instruments and tried to end the lesson 15 minutes before 10 am. Also, the classroom was messy and dirty. I gave the director some feedback about the safety issues with that. Somehow, another teacher (apparently the cause of the mess and one of the parent attending the class) jumped into her own defence and promised to clean it up for the next lesson. Well, we will see...
