We (blogger-mummies) braved the heat and crowd in the Singapore Zoological Gardens today in hope that the children could enjoy themselves and learn about animals at the same time. Frankly, the heat and crowd were pretty much what I remembered about the day. Of course it did not help that I had no camera to capture anything... I vaguely remember the giraffes, tapirs, gibbons, orang utans, penguins and some other animals but Sophie seemed to be more fascinated by the people around her than the animals. In fact, it was so hot that she did not even want to walk around on her own (sat in the stroller the whole time). When we got back, I found her looking a little tanned and some red clusters of heat rash on her limbs and back. Poor girl did not sleep well either, whining every now and then... maybe the itch was bothering her.
All in all, I was not very impressed by our "top-notch" zoo. After you pay for the admission, you need to pay to hop onto the tram, pay again to take any animal rides and pay some more for the food to feed the animals. I was surprised that the toilet is free... maybe that was why it was sooooooooo crowded and "overused" (if you understand what I mean). We thought of becoming "friends of the zoo" and make zoo trips a regular family outing. Hmm... Second thoughts... Sorry, STB!
Too hot these days to go zoo... maybe you'll be a little more impressed when you go on a cool weather and non-school holiday... I went on a WEEKEND during the CA1 period and the zoo was empty... And it was a sat... surprise, surprise!
