IMM Saturday

I was under the impression that the Popular at IMM was huge, with many shelves dedicated to preschool activity books (especially Chinese ones). And I am currently sourcing for good Chinese books for teaching toddlers and twos. However, I was disappointed. There were not many useful books at all! It looks like we have to make a trip to Bras Basah Complex next weekend. Fortunately we did not waste our trip all the way to Jurong, we had quite a nice time at IMM. Sophie got to play at the playground and took a picture with a panda (one of her favourites).

And I bought “Wo Hui Du I Can Read Level 1” from Learn Thru’ Play with 10% Membership Discount. It consists of 10 books (thematic) which introduce basic Chinese vocabulary. Basically, the format is very much like flashcards for this series. I struggled a bit because I am not too fond of flashcard teaching. However, my Chinese is terrible and there is no way I can teach Sophie Chinese creatively so I relented. In Level 2, simple sentences will be introduced and the sentences become progressive complex in the subsequent levels. Eventually after 5 levels, we can get the “Reading Lad Level 1 and 2” which are readers essentially.

We had an early lunch at Fish & Co. after that. Sophie ate her usual spaghetti while we “attacked” the calamari with lots of pepper and salt. We took the opportunity to let Sophie taste lemon. She was hilarious! That must have kept her awake while we do some shopping at Daiso. I bought many small canisters for our scent bottles and vowed to return for their plastic ware another day! We had to leave IMM by 1 pm so that Sophie could nap.
