Letter Of The Week - "e" For eggplant

Remember our eggplant and tomato plant? Well... how shall I put it? Apparently there was insufficient sunlight where we put the pots and the heavy rain lately kind of flooded them. In short... They are dead now. I feel very bad about their fate... Ah Gong and Ah Mah advised me NEVER to TRY keeping plants again. How encouraging... Humph!

Anyway, we made "e" for eggplant in memory of the little plant which bore us 3 lovely eggplants. Although no one dares to eat them, Sophie loves to play with them. I bet she is going to miss them dearly once we clear the plants away. Perhaps her mood was really good because she finally got to hold the eggplant and she could take it wherever she wanted today.

Good for me as she was quite focused during Art Time. She was able to control the brush well enough to keep the paint within the picture. She was even trying to paint the stem carefully... Well, initially anyway.

When it came to the letter "e", she was not entirely willing to complete it and I had to help her by doing it together with her. I did not mind much because I knew she could do dot painting if she had wanted to. She was just more interested in the bottles. In fact, I am just happy to see that she could turn and remove the cap easily now. Not so long ago, she could barely support the weight of the bottles.

I guess Sophie would not always enjoy what I wanted her to do and she chose to express it like this. In any case, she still completed the craft out of good will... I think.

I was trying to finish the glue in the bottle but it was quite tough to squeeze it out and I was getting rather impatient. Suddenly an idea struck me. I have always wanted to let Sophie do straw art (blow) but I could because she likes to chew the straw. So I could use the empty bottle as a pump and let her "blow" the paint by squeezing and releasing the bottle. Experiment time!

Great! Before we called it a day, I let Sophie play with the eggplant in hope to get her to say "eggplant" instead of just "plant". To my surprise, she started pretending to rock it to sleep like a baby. So hilarious!
