I know watching TV isn't the best option for kids who need some sort of time filler, but how can I stop my kids from doing something I personally enjoy? I actually like watching animations and I find them a lot more pleasing than Hollywood blockbusters (not including animations, of course). However, I find it harder and harder to find animations that are not aggressive for Alfee. He used to watch Winnie The Pooh, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Pocoyo, but he will very soon outgrow these animations and I haven't found anything to replace them. For Sophie, it was much easier. I have found her Angelina Ballerina, Olivia, Peppa Pig, Ben and Holly, Charlie And Lola, Milly And Molly and many more. She will never have to watch anything too adventurous or aggressive. She's even starting to watch The Magic School Bus.
I have to comb YouTube for Korean animations for Alfee. They have very benign animations on transportation, transformer-like vehicles and vehicle-animal hybrids. I watched them with Alfee. Although I haven't got a clue to what they are saying, they never have anything aggressive. Even Disney Cars sometimes contain aggression due to racing. One episode of the korean animation on cars talks about two cars trying to race against a train. In the end, one of the cars crashes and gets injured. His friends has to get help from a police car and a tow truck. Thus, I think there's some good lessons learnt there.
The vehicle-animal hybrid animation is more like a car race sort of storyline. I don't really like it but again, it's still less aggressive than the typical animations we get on TV these days. It kind of reminded me Jungle Junction shown on TV some time ago. I don't really find it attractive but Sophie seemed to like it then. I don't get to see it anymore on TV (maybe because we stopped subscribing Disney Channel) so I can only show Alfee on YouTube.
Maybe I am not well informed or in sync with the kids' animation world, I just can't find good animations for my kids. I don't like what I see on Okto so I never let the kids watch TV. I only let them watch DVDs that I bought over the last 5 years. I am still searching for better animations for them, mostly from Amazon and recently, Fishpond. It's not cheap to buy DVDs, but I'm not ready to expose them to TV yet. And I really don't want Alfee to like aggressive characters, even though I might find certain characters endearing myself!
Here's another safe but not so exciting animation about a fire engine and his vehicle friends... looks a little dated but it has good morals behind each episode.
