We were quite exhausted from yesterday's event (at least I am) so we didn't plan to do much today. In the morning, Alfee went to the playground while Sophie was swimming with Uncle Shawn. I must say, I am quite disappointed that Sophie hasn't improved much in her swimming over the last year and a half. We always knew she isn't the athletic type but we were hoping she could at least swim to strengthen her lungs. Perhaps we should seriously consider individual lessons... but it costs 3 times as much...
After their nap, we headed for Ngee Ann City for Sophie's art class. We postponed it so that she could attend her T & T yesterday. After her lesson, I would usually prepare some snacks for them. They tend to be cranky without food. Today, I gave them a treat - lollipops. They are slowly learning that lollipops are great to see and crave but really impossible to enjoy...
In the evening, we met Ah Boh for dinner at Thomson Plaza. By then, we were all 'deflated'. Eating with the kids can sometimes be a tough challenge for us. Both kids would conspire and make me look really bad in public. Sometimes, I wish my kids were a little less difficult...
The only consolation I have - Sophie is quite a good reader. She can read very well for a soon 5 year old. She reads menus and road signs, labels and even graffitis. Words unfamiliar to her, she just sounds them out. Her level of comprehension in writing is much better than in conversation, I must say. I think it's because she's a highly visual person and she doesn't listens very well.
We were all fascinated by the gigantic bowl of mushroom soup. In fact, we were so tickled by the size that Sophie didn't mind trying out the soup. She never drank soup at restaurants unless I forced her so this was rare...
