Satay In The Morning

I love to wear shades, they cover my tired and squinting eyes in the sun.This morning, we went to East Coast Park with the kids. Actually, we don't do much, we just walk around and people watch basically. I think we are just not very active people who can tolerate sporty and overstimulating activities with the kids. We are really just 'take walks' kind of people. 

We like to watch people do cable skiing... somehow it has a calming effect on the kids. Today, Papa caught a funny shot of the three of us looking out in different directions. Actually, it all started with Alfee calling out 'fork' and Sophie echoed, acknowledging his great discovery. However, no matter how hard I looked, I just couldn't see the fork.

Then the kids tried to help me find it... by pointing it to me. That was pretty much the time I realised I better stop looking for it because my kids were out to confused me. It took me a while to finally asked Papa and he directed my gaze to a fork, just a metre or two away from my feet.

Suddenly, we saw lots of smoke from the hawker centre stalls. We jokingly speculated satay but quickly dismissed it as it was barely 9 am in the morning. But to our very pleasant surprise, several stalls were really selling satay in the morning! Imagine that!

We orderd and ate with gusto, washing down the sweet meat with refreshing coconut juice and even sweeter sugar cane drink. Absolutely loved it!

We spent the rest of the holiday in Marina Square. We were hoping to do some shopping for our trip to Taiwan. The kids were attracted by the dazzling Christmas decorations. 

Our day was then completed with a trip to The Times Bookshop. Sophie very naturally grabbed a book and asked me for permission to sit somewhere to read. Although we always encourage reading, we never expected her to love reading that much. It's like a window for her to escape the boring and mundane reality.
