Sponge Printing

Alfee couldn't reach up to open the art materials cabinet so he would always peer in and grab anything he could reach whenever I open the doors for something. Today, he managed to lay his hands on my sponge box. He took out the entire box and had a blast fiddling with all the assorted shapes. In the end, we did some sponge painting - simple and fun.

I was sort of an opportunist at heart. I noticed that he was relatively calm and cooperative today so I taught him how to clean up after art. Alfee managed to put away the unused sponges and brought the used ones to the toilet for a wash.

I helped Alfee fill up the basin with water to rinse the sponges and he was delighted to carry out the tasks. Then he started exploring the feel of sponges in water... and then he found some floating toys... and then... he forgot about washing. It became water play!!!

It was hard to end the play and when it did come to an end, there was a cheeky smile on Alfee's face. I think he has learnt a new way to have water play. All he has to do is to fill up the basin with water... and the water supply is endless... Oh dear!
