Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

I bought Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault on impulse at Kinokuniya some time ago. I was hungry for audio books so when I saw it, I grabbed it without even reading any review about it. Fortunately, it was a good decision. With the illustrations done by Lois Ehlert and the story narrated by Ray Charles, what can possibly go wrong? The CD is great as well, there are 3 songs (different tunes) with the text as lyrics and each one is equally catchy.

Here is a story of the 26 young characters (lower case letters) racing one another up the coconut tree, but the tree begins to bend under the weight of all the letters. In the end, all the 26 lower case letters fall in a big heap underneath. The upper case letters are portrayed as family members - mamas and papas and uncles and aunts. And all of them came to help the poor "little ones". However as the night approaches, "a" leaps out of bed and double dares the rest to race up the coconut tree again. It may not sound very exciting but the story is written in a rhythmic and playful manner. You can only appreciate it if you get a copy yourself (the ones in YouTube are not the same as the ones in the CD).
