Letter Of The Week - "C" For Cheetah

I know "cat" is a hot favourite whenever we deal with the letter "C" so I deliberately avoided making a cat. Instead, I made a "cheetah" (they are not the same!). While I was basking in ego-inflating thoughts and hoping that ingenuity runs in the family, it suddenly dawned upon me that people do not use "cheetah" for a good reason. Well, it actually does not not begin with the typical hard "c" sound, like "cow", "cat" or "count". It does not even start with the soft "c" sound, like "celery" or "cell"! "Cheetah" starts with a consonant blend, as in "church" or "cheese". Anyway, too late now! Tomorrow, we will do "caterpillar" for the small "c".

So that was not a good start, but we moved on and Sophie did her usual thing with the sponge brush and orange paint. She was so eager to start painting that she wailed and whined while I was gathering the materials. As a result, I forgot to put on her smock... messy... messy... messy! Not my dream craft because there was a lot of touch up to do for her, like dotting on the spots and outline the cheetah. All in all, it turned out well... I think.

End Product - "C For Cheetah"

As I was saying, Sophie was very excited before we started painting the "cheetah" so I gave her a Takashimaya paper bag to paint on first. I saw her putting it over her head earlier and I thought it would make a nice "cat" mask. After all, what else can you do with a paper bag? It was a wonderful pievce of craft, very little work and so much fun after it was done! I did not even have to hide the flowery design on the paper bag, I just outline the face of the "cat" and cut holes for the eyes and nose.

Sophie was smart enough to refuse putting it on (too hot) and she kept insisting we put it on to entertain her instead! That was Ah Gong and his failed attempt to put it on for her... Hahaha!

And this is poor Mama pretending to be a cat and meowing away, just to entertain Sophie!

  1. That's a good idea to recycle the paper bags but be careful with plastic bags. Next time can add ears or mane.
