Letter Of The Week - "H" For Horse

Have not been feeling fantastic lately so I chose the easiest letter for this week. Sophie already knows the letter "H" and she likes "horses" so I do not have to think too hard on how to teach her. Having said that, I still spent some time drawing the horse because I am so lousy at drawing that I always need a sample to copy from.

Fortunately for me, Sophie was relatively cooperative in getting the job done. It still took her quite some time but at least she did it... to the best of her ability.

I thought the letter looked a little bare so I cut some grass on the spot and added them to it. Sophie got to squeeze the glue out and play with the pieces of "grass" a bit before she got frustrated by pieces stuck onto her fingers. It was then I realised I should have cut the letter out first... It was not easy to keep the "grass" intact when I cut it later.
It was amazing that Sophie did not get super bored and sat throughout without fussing. I think the craft was meaningful to her because she could understand "H" and "horse". She even played with the "horse" while painting it.

I did not quite get the colour right for the horse, but I had wanted a plain brown horse so I let it go. I deliberately attached plastic eyes so that it look a little friendlier.

Thus, the brown horse sits comfortably in the middle of "H". I could have made the horse a little thinner so that it would not block the letter, but then the horse would also look strangely thin and long. So... I let it be. After all, it has not been a fantastic week...

End Product - "H" For Horse
