Letter Of The Week - "I" For Iguana

Prior to this, I have no idea how to distinguish an iguana from a chameleon. Although I still have little idea of both the lizards, I can more or less tell them apart now. This is the fun part of educating Sophie... I get to be educated myself! In any case, we intended to let our little iguana sit on the letter "I" today. Feeling ambitious, I decided to let Sophie do a collage on the letter "I".

It took several tries before I was contented with the looks of our "iguana". I needed it to be a specific size and position to sit on the letter. Once I got that done, Sophie started drawing on it with her markers.

It took a lot of coaxing and "yeah" to get her going... But she was a little more enthusiastic when it was the "iguana's" turn.

Finally, we got the "background" of "I" and the "iguana" down. Next, we must try to make the "iguana" look more "exciting" so we used lots of glitter glue and fixed a plastic eye on the fellow.

The collage was challenging to do, especially when I had only one hand. I let Sophie practise squeezing glue from the bottle and she seemed quite happy with just doing that. She found the sticky glue too yucky and difficult to manage so she did not really want to pick up any tissue paper to stick onto the "I"

In the end, I had to complete it for her of course. And I attached the letter and the "iguana" onto a piece of construction paper and it was done!

I am quite glad Sophie seemed more experience with glue and sticking than before when we first did the Easter Egg Collage. I think she has matured a lot over the months of our messy craft time!

End Product - "I" For Iguana
