Letter Of The Week - "K" For Kangaroo

Frankly, I was not really in any mood for craft because I have many pending household chores to complete. Of course it does not help when I have got a bad headache due to sleep deprivation. But we did "Letter of the Week" anyway. Today, we did "K" for Kangaroo. It took me quite a while to draw it just right to fit into the letter "K". I also used more cardboard than usual... that means we have to eat more cereal...

I tried to keep the rest simple so I just got Sophie to apply yellow and green paint on the letter. After that, a layer of glitter glue to finish it off. I was not sure if Sophie was alright with doing craftwork but she seemed quite her usual self... messing things up and all...

Papa was preparing Sophie's fish (I cannot handle the fishy smell!) while she was doing her craft. I thought he could help me take pictures and video clips... At least Sophie was not distracted or under pressure to "perform" (usually the case when Papa is around).

It was tough to get Sophie painting so in the end, I had to do most of the work for her. At first, I was worried that the kangaroo might turn out too reddish. Fortunately, it seemed fine. After the paint was dry, I used pastels to outline the kangaroo and draw its ears and eye. It actually looks good... surprise surprise...

It took quite a while but when everything finally was nice and dry, I mounted it on a piece of construction paper. And we waited for it to dry once more. Meanwhile, we read Sophie's Sails Reader "What Can Jump?" by Jo Windsor. There is a picture of a kangaroo jumping and I thought it is perfect to go along with our craft for "Letter of the Week".
