Readers Mania "Ii"

In the "I" book of Alphatales, many words that begin with "i" are introduced. For example, "imagines", "ill", "island", "iceberg" and "idea". Unfortunately, none of those words can be easily taught to Sophie at this point. In fact, "ice" (as in snow and ice in winter) is also quite difficult to understand for her. So far, only "ice-cream" is easy to explain...

In the "I" book of Sunshine Phonics, we see "ice" as in winter ice and snow again. It is meaningless unless I can show her what "ice" is... although she watches ice-skating and skiing on Hi-5 before. In the end, it is still "ice-cream"... Of course, we also see words like "iron" and "insects". Not fantastic words to teach either. Aiya...

In Now I'm Reading!: All About the ABCs by Nora Gaydos, "i" is for "inchworms" and "iguana" so at least Sophie could see how an inchworm and an iguana look like.

"Itchy insects... i... i... i..." I am not so sure if I want Sophie to develop negative feelings towards insects. I mean, we all hate pests and sometimes fear certain creatures. I remember my brother once let a lizard crawl around on his palm to show my niece that it was not scary at all. But, I think she is now still fearful of lizards. Hmm...
