In the "K" book of Alphatales, colours are introduced alongside with the letter "K" for "kangaroo", "king" and "kazoo". I must admit I know very little about "kazoo" so I cannot elaborate much on it to Sophie. Instead, I concentrated on the colours and the pictures. There are also a couple of new words like "katydids", "kooky" (which I learnt from BunnyTown), "kazooky-pooky" and "kazarama reel" (both of which I found out later, are not real terms for dances). I believe "kazooky-pooky" may actually be "hokey pokey" and "kazarama reel" may be a kind of folk dance called "reel". Perhaps the music is played with kazoos so the author made up the names of the dance.
In the "K" book of Sunshine Phonics, there are many common "k" words like "key", "kangaroo", "kitchen" and "kite". In fact, I got the key design for "Letter of the Week" from this book. Nice and straightforward, I did not have to do any more research... Phew!
In Now I'm Reading!: All About the ABCs by Nora Gaydos, "K" is also for "koala" and "kindergarten". Ouch! Any word with "kinder" as part of it... brings back horror memories...
Lots of "action" words like "karate", "kung fu" and "kick" in the song. We could have pretended to kick and punch as we listened to the song but we did not. I think we would leave out the "violence" for the time being.
