Post-Kinderland Activities

We missed Sophie so much that we could not resist taking her out after her afternoon nap. I do not know about Papa, but I was very guilty and thus, doing all sorts of nonsense in attempt to make it up to her.

Day 1 - Sembawang Shopping Centre
We headed out to Sembawang Shopping Centre to buy Sophie a pair of rubber shoes. The teachers said that they (the toddlers) needed a pair of waterproof shoes for toilet use and we could leave them there. Personally, I did not like the idea because I know rubber shoes tend to give blisters, but since we have just become Romans... We complied. We bought a pair of "Crocs" for her. They are affordable, functional and easily recognisable for Sophie. I am a pragmatic Mama.

Actually, I was mad enough to even look around for a tricycle and playhouse for Sophie. We checked out those at Aprisin (Tagore Lane) but they are either too expensive or the height is not right. I even let Sophie sit on those theme "vehicles" machines... totally not me. Apparently, I am more affected by the childcare saga than anyone else in our family. Maybe it was the sleep deprivation and crying... but I am certainly helping the retail industry!
By Friday, Ah Gong and Ah Mah could resist no longer. They came over to "sayang" and "fuss over" Sophie. Their precious little granddaughter undergoing such "inhumane" treatment! Ah Mah has always made it clear to Mama that she could not take care of Sophie because of her health and energy level. NOW she WANTS to take Sophie in! Poor Ah Mah must be heartbroken as well...

After Sophie's nap, we took a leisurely walk at Jacab Ballas Children's Garden with Ah Gong and Ah Mah. They were tired but they watched over Sophie like hawks... We just wanted her to enjoy herself and forget about the childcare experience in the morning. Little did we realise, her little body was fighting a different battle...

Day 4 - Eu Yen Sang at Rivervale Mall for TCM
Sophie woke up with free flow of clear mucus down her nostrils. Knowing her well, I was sure she would come down with a bad cold and cough soon if we did not intervene quick enough. So, we took her to see Dr Wong. I had to hammer myself... We did exactly what we never wanted to do! We exposed her to germs and virus, deprived her of rest and sleep, and prevented her from fighting the invasion! Now, we have declared a period of recuperation for Sophie and even ourselves. This whole experience has clouded my better judgement and set us back a couple of months of hard work and routine!
Day 5 - Naenae's Place
We did not want to stress Sophie out anymore so we just went to Naenae's place for lunch and head home afterwards... That was the plan! Naenae was almost in tears when we recounted Sophie's experience at childcare. I admit, I was starting to sound like a paranoid and overprotective mama. BUT I do not care... I wanted the whole, entire world to "sayang" Sophie! Okay, maybe not the whole, entire world, just everyone in the family. We even showed Ah Boh and Naenae the video clips we took... and they agreed with us. We MUST take her out!

Reminiscence of our guilt at work, we drove around while Sophie took her nap in the car and ended up at Hay Dairies (Lim Chu Kang). We took the opportunity to check out the place. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately, AVA stopped all animal feeding due to the ''assorted" flu and we were not in time to watch the milking process. Thus, we just looked at the goats and kids from far... Phew! The animals smelt really bad...
