Alphabet Rubber Stamp (Relentless Approach Of Sophie's Mama)

I have to admit I am disappointed with our not-too-successful printing today. I had thought that Sophie would enjoy playing and printing with her baby shoes. After all, she loves to wear them on her hands and do “dancing” with them. Why was she so eager to end the session?

I decided to let her try stamping with her new alphabet rubber stamps. I bought her one set of alphabet foam mounted stamps from Art Friend some time ago, but the font was fancy so I dare not confuse her at this point. This set of rubber stamps is really good, the font is exactly what I want Sophie to learn. I only took out the capital letters (next time I would take a few out at a time) and threw in some design stamps I bought when I was still a teacher.

Sophie loved stamping with them... and she also did lots of finger prints. She tried naming all the letters she used (but there were too many) as she totally messed up the ink pad. I felt quite sad that she could not take care of the set of stamps and ink pad actually. It took me a while to find it and it is quite costly... Sigh! Hopefully, it really helps her learn the Alphabet and lasts long enough for her to learn spelling as well.

I concluded that Sophie must have felt conscious and insecure standing on the chair at the dining table this morning. Usually, she would sit through the session in her highchair. Without it, she lacked the physical cue to indicate the end of the session so she wanted to get off the chair once she felt the session had already ended. It is also possible that she did not really know what was expected of her when she was printing with the shoes. On the other hand, she knew exactly what to do with the rubber stamps. Of course, I think bottom line - she prefers stamping with her alphabet set to shoe printing... and playing with her shoes (or putting them on herself) more than printing with them.
