I was quite eager to use the idea in No Time For Flashcards and make a "piano keyboard". However, I changed my mind this morning when I saw Sophie playing with her plastic food - a pod of peas. I thought it seemed a little easier (for me at least) to make and Sophie is familiar with peas.
When we first started, I was impressed that Sophie actually tried to paint the pods and the letter "properly". But that lasted only 30 seconds and she began fiddling around with the brush and paint. Not too bad... I thought. Again it lasted 30 seconds. All warmed up finally, Sophie went on painting the way she enjoyed best.
Sophie was a little uncertain about printing with the peas so I had to do some demonstration before giving it to her. Still, she remained lukewarm to the idea. Maybe the pea print was not very interesting to her. Next time, I should use real peas and pods. Perhaps she would be more excited then.
Since Sophie was getting more and more confident in pasting, I let her put the green pom poms on the pea pods after applying white glue on them for her.
Once Sophie had completed her part of the craft, I let her have some fun with the remaining paint while I finished the rest.
Actually, the rest was simple. I just pasted everything onto a piece of construction paper and left it to dry.
