Alfee remembers how I got angry when he didn't stay in his seat and ran off for his toys during our last painting session. So today when I told him we were going to paint, he looked concerned. He then said,"Painting? We are doing painting? Mummy, you don't get angry, ok?" On one hand, I found it funny but on the other, I felt a bit guilty and sorry for losing my temper so easily with the kids. I also thought of how Sophie 'suffers' without ever telling me not to be angry like Alfee did. Perhaps that's the difference between my kids... Alfee seems to have better grasp of social cues than Sophie does.
Anyway, we did lines again. This time, Alfee seemed to have got a better idea what I wanted from him even though his attention span was still atrocious. At one point, he froze with his brush in mid air and I thought something was wrong. Then I found out that he was just curious how the paint drips from the brush. He's so adorable (I know I'm biased...) that I didn't even get upset when he dripped on the floor. It helped that he kept apologising for it.
Besides horizontal lines, we did vertical lines as well. Vertical lines are definitely more manageable for him. Also, it is easier for him to do up-down movements rather than down-up movements. Perhaps it's something to do with gravity.
