Tuesday

Cherrytots is starting to look very crowded with all the new members and 'about to cross over' veterans. No wonder the teachers are all eager to promote Alfee to Nursery as well. However, I am still not so ready because he seems so babyish still. At play, he got a fellow veteran to ride a tricycle and let him be a pillion. It was a nice, heartwarming sight.

After we got home, I thought about making a sensory box for the kids and decided to just do it. I went to the market and bought 2 kg worth of beans, lentils and barley. However, I managed to find some unused baby pasta, alphabet pasta and mixed grains and pasta in our cupboard. I doubt we would eat them because they have probably expired and they look quite interesting as well.

I also put together some foam letters and numbers to mix into the box. And I took out assort measuring gadgets and containers for them to scoop the contents.

I always thought such activities are therapeutic and fun for the kids, but I was still surprised to witness their intense focus and interest in exploring the contents. They cooperated, solved problems and shared their tools. I love the time we spent on the sensory box. I think I'll definitely try to give them more exposure to sensory box play from now.
