Toys For Sophie & Alfee

I like my children to be exposed to different types of toys and enjoy playing without any prejudice or gender biases. That's why I bought many cars, building blocks and puzzles for Sophie. Of course, she wasn't quite as keen as Alfee when those toys are concerned. But she is now playing with them more because of Alfee. And Sophie has made it very easy for Alfee to enjoy playing with dolls, plushes and pretend cooking. I think it's really great that Alfee loves dolls and enjoys doing play pretending with his sister. Anyone who think sons should not play with dolls should read William's Doll by Charlotte Zolotow.

However, we do have certain rules about toys. We absolutely forbid toy guns, swords or anything that potentially resembles weapons. We avoid movies, cartoons or any prints that promote violence or aggression... I believe kids must never think that aggression and violence can be simply justified or trivialised.
