In the morning, Sophie swam while Alfee got playground time. He's recovering from a nasty virus so we thought it's best to keep him from the waters for the time being. That little rascal was having a ball with our neighbours, running around and climbing everywhere. He loves the bar just above the slide most, using it as a monkey bar and swinging like one.
At the playground, they met Dou Dou and her grandma. She's about Sophie's age and she's always playing at the playground. Although she's probably a PRC, she speaks with a British accent. According to her mum, she attends classes from The British Council. Dou Dou's mum likes it when Sophie plays with her daughter. Perhaps they aren't many girls of this age group around my neighbourhood whom they know.
We rested, bathed and ate lunch after that. Sometimes, I get so caught up with the daily operations that I don't notice how much they have grown over the years. Sophie is fast becoming a much more stable and independent child. And Alfee is now very chatty and he has very good gross motor skills. I'm only starting to realise how much older I have aged. Motherhood has its toll on me.
We headed for United Square for early dinner and asked Ah Boh to join us. The kids always ask for Ah Boh in the weekends. I think maybe they know Ah Boh would pamper them with lots of yummy treats and toys. They are very fortunate to have such a doting aunt. I don't recall any aunts or uncles who were really nice to me when I was growing up.
So while they were playing and making funny faces for Papa, I was enjoying a little bit of 'undisturbed' dinner time. It's a luxury to eat in peace without any kids trying to eat your food or grab your arm or kill each other.
After dinner, the kids were allowed some time at the toyshop (more like demanded for it). I'm immensely proud that I didn't succumb to any urges to but toys for them. But look at them... Anyway, Ah bob bought them each a balloon sculpture. Alfee got an angry bird while Sophie a mermaid. I could only be contented with a few books from Popular for Sophie.
