Sophie was in her art class so we had some time to do some shopping or have a cup of tea. I bought some origami paper to do craft work with Sophie while waiting for Papa and Alfee. Alfee was asleep in the car so they stayed in the car while I walked Sophie to class.
It took us 30 minutes to actually find a place to sit down and have a cuppa. Everywhere was horribly crowded and small. In the end, we settled for Coffee Bean. On the way to fetch her, we got some balloons and tasted some new chocolate favours.
Today, Sophie finished up an aeroplane that she was making. She used cardboard and other recycled materials. Most of her classmates are Japanese, including her teacher, so I really don't know how she communicated with them.
We took a walk before heading back. Sometimes, I look at these pictures and I'm amazed how my children have grown up so quickly. I remembered those dark, painful days (and nights) when they were perpetually in my arms and I had to constantly manage them. Nowadays, I can space out every once in a while. I also find it easier to relax now when they are around.
I always believe in tougher challenges ahead and calmness before a storm. I think as Alfee grows older, he'll want more autonomy and it will be harder to manage him. He's definitely stronger than Sophie physically and I think he has less inhibition. I'm depending on Sophie to be the big sister she is and set good example to Alfee.
